Question

There are many ways we could implement nurse regulators in health policy discussions and advocate for our contributions in healthcare. The first way I would go about implementing this activity would be staying informed and education myself on local, state, and federal healthcare policies and reforms. I would join forces with other nurses who express the same interest, have the same desires and goals to health care for the better. I would join an organization such as NCSBN, this will help lead me in the right direction to implement policy changes or be a part of those changes. The Dakota Nurse Connection refers to NCSBN as it "provides education, service and research through collaborative leadership to promote evidence-based regulatory excellence for patient safety and public protection." This provides the explanation of why it is important for nurses to join forces and join organizations that have our best interest and the interest for the safety of public health.
