CASE SCENARIO:

A laparoscopic repair was scheduled. During this procedure the herniated and perforated part of the colon was removed, a transdiaphragmatic lavage was undertaken and the omentum was used to close the diaphragmatic defect. A mesh or sutures were not used since the abdomen was contaminated with feces. On the 10th day,the patient has O2 of 8 LPM/FM, PNSS 1L x 8 hours and CTT. All of a sudden, the patient complains of chest pain, with O2saturation of 85%. The doctors, intubate the patient, but still with O2 sat of 89%, HR=42, BP=80/50 palpatory. After 5 minutes, the 92-year-old-patient deceased due to cardiac arrest. Post mortem care was performed by the nurse and nurse assistant.
