Discussion Post
Part of receiving feedback is reflecting on how to best apply it to future coaching situations.
Considering adjustments that can be made to coaching style, practices and materials can help you be more effective in your role as a technology coach.
Allocate at least 1 hour in the field to support this field experience.
Meet with the mentee to discuss the results of the feedback survey and the additional questions you formulated after reviewing the survey results. Your goal is to get specific feedback about the effectiveness of the resources that were selected and implemented in the classroom, the usability and clarity of the support materials you provided, and the quality of the coaching you provided to the mentee. You will use the information from the mentee feedback survey and your discussion to further improve your educational technology knowledge and coaching skills.
Use any remaining time to observe and/or assist your mentee teacher or another teacher and work with an individual or small group of students on instruction in the classroom.
In 250 to 500 words, summarize and reflect upon the resources and coaching you provided to the mentee by addressing the following:
Question A. Discuss the adjustments you would make to the educational technology tools/media you recommended based upon the mentee feedback. Provide specific examples to justify each change.
Question B. Describe updates you would make to the support materials you provided to the mentee and explain how making these changes would improve the materials and mentee experience.
Question C. Consider the feedback you received from your mentee and describe what you learned about your coaching skills and how you feel about your current ability to collaboratively coach colleagues in the integration of educational technology in the classroom. Include discussion of progress you have made in attaining the SMART goals set as part of the Topic 3 Clinical Field Experience. If you have achieved one or both goals, set and articulate an additional SMART goal that will continue to help you improve your collaborative coaching abilities and explain how you think achieving these goals will benefit you and those you are coaching in future professional practice. Consider the ISTE Standards for Coaches when formulating your goals.
