EVENT PLANNING AND EVALUATION
Large scale event projects operate in a complex environment of micro and macro forces which create issues and challenges to their successful staging and ongoing success. They are also both capable of and relied upon for generating a range of impacts in/on the localities, regions and countries where they take place.
You are required to select a sector of the global events industry e.g. music festivals, cultural events, fundraising events, large scale sporting events, exhibitions, conferences or conventions.
You are then required to submit a report which addresses the following criteria and areas:
Part 1. Overview of the size and scope of your sector both internationally and in the UK.
Part 2. PESTEL analysis of your chosen sector, and a critical discussion of 4 key strategic risks currently facing the events in your sector or likely to in the near future.
Part 3. Critically discuss how event organisers can maximise the potential positive impacts and minimise the negative impacts of events in your chosen sector in terms of the planning and management of the following areas:
• Location and venue selection, design and management.
• Programme planning and event content design.
• Sponsorship programmes and partnerships.
For each means of addressing impact please identify the methods, techniques and performance indicators available to the event organisers to measure and evaluate their impacts in these areas.
