Just looking for a simple reply: After learning more about continuous improvement during this term, it has become even more evident that the techniques and tools used in the workplace are an integral part of an organization surviving and thriving. These tools touch each aspect of the triple bottom line. The economic, social, and environmental. Each of these aspects is connected to the other, and the tools for continuous improvement can be used to improve any part of the organization. Further, the company will likely experience declining profit or market share without constant improvement tools and techniques.

Sustainability and continuous improvement go hand in hand. Continuous improvement is sustainable if it is done correctly. Changes that make a positive impact should be carried through until they are a part of the workplace culture. The sustainability of changes is only possible if a solid team within the company will champion these changes and prove why they are the right path. If this does not happen, the changes implemented will not have the desired impact or will not last, and the organization will revert to the old ways of doing things.
