Emotional Intelligence, Cultural Intelligence and Diversity
Assessment - Intercultural Competence Guide-Generative AI Critique
Task
Each student, individually, is required to submit a 1500-word intercultural competence guide based on the assessment instructions outlined below.
Assessment Description
In this individual assessment, students will showcase their understanding and ability to apply the concepts of emotional and cultural intelligence to the modern workplace, as well as the implications for leadership, teams, and transforming organisational cultures. They will evaluate the importance and influence of diversity and culture and their associated implications for organisations and leadership. Additionally, they will apply strategies for successful intercultural support and relationship- building within an organisation.
Assessment Instructions
For this assessment, you are required to develop an intercultural competency guide aimed at equipping individuals with practical intercultural skills and culturally specific knowledge that can be applied in both workplace settings and everyday life. The guide should be developed for an audience comprising individuals from Australia and another country of your choice, which may be your home country if you are not from Australia. The guide will draw on the key theories explored in weeks 7 and 8, emphasising understanding, analysing, and responding to cultural differences through GenAI and established intercultural frameworks and theories.
The content of the guide must be structured using GenAI tools. You are required to generate this structure and content by creating your own AI prompts, which will form the basis of the guide. While GenAI is to be used in the development of the guide material, it must not be used to evaluate or analyse the AI-generated content itself. Instead, you are expected to conduct your critical analysis of the content by applying intercultural theories, including Hofstede's (1980) model of Cultural Dimensions and Hall's (1963) concept of high-context and low-context cultures. Other relevant models or frameworks may also be used to support your analysis.
Your guide must address three core learning outcomes. First, it should provide participants with a clear and insightful understanding of the cultural differences between Australia and your chosen country, utilising the learned theory thus far to interpret these differences meaningfully. Second, the guide should present three workplace-specific examples highlighting how the two countries' cultures and practices differ.
Finally, the guide should propose three evidence-based strategies for adapting communication styles and workplace practices to ensure relevance and clarity for culturally diverse participants. These strategies must be grounded in theory and clearly linked to either Hofstede's or Hall's model, or both. The use of AI is mandatory for this part of the assessment.
In addition to developing the guide content, you are required to provide an analysis of the AI- generated outputs. This includes an evaluation of the AI's responses on cultural differences, workplace practices, and adaptive strategies. Your analysis should demonstrate your ability to interpret and critique the outputs using relevant intercultural theories. The quality of your engagement with the AI process will also be assessed, particularly your ability to create thoughtful, targeted prompts and iterate on them where needed to refine your content. The use of AI is forbidden for this part of the assessment. Get dependable, budget-friendly assignment help-starting today!
Following the Kaplan Business School Generative AI Traffic Light System, you must clearly identify all AI-generated material within your submission. All AI prompts, responses, and iterations used to produce the guide must be included in the appendices to ensure transparency. These appendices are not included in the word count but should be neatly presented at the end of the document and referenced as appropriate within the main report.
Your submission must demonstrate academic rigour and include at least five (5) sources of information that support your analysis and interpretation. These should include references to key intercultural theories and any other academic literature used to underpin your arguments. These references should be presented as in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your written analysis (not included in the word limit). Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
The analysis of your intercultural competence guide should be between 750 and 850 words and must include the following components:
Introduction (75-80 words): Provide some background or context for the task. State the purpose of the guide and what it aims to achieve, as well as a brief overview of the process you use to develop the content.
Outcome 1 (Analysis of AI response on cultural differences around 200 words): Analyse the AI- generated content related to the understanding of cultural differences between Australia and your chosen country, followed by your analysis supported by Hofstede's (1980) and Hall's (1963) cultural theories. In addition to these two theories, Other relevant models or frameworks may also be used to support your analysis.
Outcome 2 (Critical evaluation of AI-generated examples of workplace culture and practice around 200 words): analyse the AI-generated content, offering three examples of differences in the workplace culture of the two countries referenced with an in-text citation.
Outcome 3 (critical analysis of the three AI-generated strategies of how to adapt communication and workplace practices, around 200 words): analyse the AI-generated content offering three strategies referenced with an in-text citation, followed by your critical evaluation of the AI-generated strategies based on related theories.
Conclusion (75-80 words): Summarise the process and outcomes of the guide.
