Care Practicum Learning

Purpose
The Learning Contract for your Direct Care Practicum is part of the overall requirements for the Direct Care Practicum Experience. This assignment serves as a contract between the direct care practicum experience mentor, NR622 course faculty, and MSN student to assist the student in successfully achieving the direct care practicum requirements and course outcomes.

Course Learning Outcomes
Through this assignment, the student will address the following course learning outcomes:
CO 5: Assume the role of nurse educator and leader, through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. Concepts related to leadership and management may support development in this role.
CO 6: Demonstrate advanced nursing care through application of the nursing process in a direct care clinical setting.

Assignment Overview
This assignment is designed to guide students in individualizing their direct care practicum goals based on Course Objectives.
During Week 1, the Direct Care Learning Contract will be created by the student, approved by the practicum mentor, and submitted for instructor evaluation and approval.
During Week 8, the Direct Care Learning Contract will be reviewed for validation by the practicum mentor and submitted for final evaluation by the instructor.

Week 1: Direct Care Learning Contract Assignment Instructions
Review the NR622 Course Outcomes and collaborate with your direct care practicum mentor regarding your goals to meet these outcomes.
Create self-identified direct care practicum objectives to facilitate achievement of each personalized goal. Include a minimum of two objectives for each of the identified course outcomes.

Develop a plan to meet the self-identified direct care practicum objectives. Include specific activities that will facilitate achievement of each established direct care practicum objectives. Include a minimum of two targeted activities for each direct care practicum objective. Approaches related to leadership and professional development may help guide practicum planning.

Confirm approval of your Learning Agreement via direct care practicum mentor signature on the Direct Care Learning Contract as indicated for Week 1.

Week 2: Direct Care Learning Contract Assignment Instructions
Throughout the direct care practicum experience, provide any updates and modifications to the Direct Care Learning Contract that are needed to accurately reflect your direct care practicum experience and achievement of the course outcomes.
Review the completed Direct Care Learning Contract with your direct care practicum mentor.
Confirm validation of your Direct Care Learning Contract via direct care practicum mentor signature on the Direct Care Learning Contract as indicated for Week 8. Long-term professional growth and career plan development can also support future nursing leadership goals.
