We requiere to design combined footing which will support a load of two columns ( the two columns rest on the same footing). The columns are squared, with a width of 12" and are at a distance of 15' from centre to centre. Determine the dimensions of the combined footing so that the pressure of contact is uniform. The load on the beam are P1= 150kips and P2= 200 kips. The permisable pressure on the soil is 3000 psf and the footing has a thickness of 24" and is at a depth of 4'.
