Assignment:
1. Find at least one recent, peer-reviewed journal article that describes the current statistics for the issue at hand nationally. For instance, if you were doing a project on Mental Health awareness, you would find statistics on how many people in the US are currently infected, how many people do not know their HIV status or how many new infections occur each year.
- Introduce the paper, where the project took place and how many people it studied.
- Describe the methods (survey, data analysis, etc.) used to collect data.
- Describe the results (statistics related to the issue).
2. Why is this a problem at Kent State University? You may use published research or survey data in this response.
Evaluation
Use the RE-AIM framework to describe your project by addressing each bullet point below. Refer to the course paper "Reaiming RE-AIM: Using the Model to Plan, Implement, and Evaluate the Effects of Environmental Change Approaches to Enhancing Population Health" by King et al. (2010).
Consider the number of people in your target audience (from above). Write out a goal percentage of these people reached (i.e. "I hope to reach 10%).
Why do you think this is a reasonable goal?
How will you reach the population? Include all marketing/advertising activities.
Effectiveness:
- What are the effects on the people who participate in your project?
- What are your SMART goals for outcomes (consider short- and long-term effects)?
- How are you measuring these outcomes?
Adoption:
- Consider the people you have reached. Which percentage will actually adopt the program?
- Who do you need to adopt this program in order for it to work (helpers, volunteers, university admins, faculty, etc.)
- If there are locations or places that need to adopt your program, what are they?
Implementation:
- What is your timeline? Write activities take place each day leading up to, during and after the project.
- Make a brief description of all project activities here, including who/what/where/when/why/how.
- Make your SMART process goals here.
Maintenance:
- What are your SMART maintenance goals for individuals? In other words, why do you think the effects will be MAINTAINED for 6-12 months?
- What are your SMART maintenance goals for organizations (clubs, organizations, university)?
Budget
• Describe your justification for the budget. Why do you need the items below?
• Remember, the purpose of this grant is to obtain funding. Carefully consider everything you need to make your project happen.
• Include a line-item budget below (you may modify the formatting of the table below). Remember:
- Close to but not over $1000.
- No salaries, wages or stipends.
- No tuition or scholarships.
- No travel.
- No speaker reimbursements.
- No food unless the food is educational in nature.
Conclusion and Discussion
• What are some questions/problems that may come up during the implementation of the process and how you will address them?
• What are some limitations you expect to encounter, and how will you address them?
• This section is a clear wrap-up of your activities
• This section does not introduce any new activities, but instead summarizes what has already been stated and reflects on the project overall.
