Application: Adapting to Global Trends

For Human Resource professionals and other business leaders, one major challenge is that global trends cannot always be anticipated and predicted with anything near 100% accuracy. This makes the job of the Human Resources professional more interesting, but also more challenging. How can an organization with the help of its HR, adapt quickly and efficiently enough to stay ahead of competitors if the organization cannot predict trends more accurately

For this Assignment, research and identify a global trend that has the potential to impact your chosen organization and specifically its Human Resources Department or Division and its AHROP, which must be addressed in HR's planning for the year ahead.

To complete this Assignment, in a 3- to 4-page paper respond to the following:

Organization - Wal-Mart

- Describe a current global trend (e.g., social media, aging workforce, virtual workplace, global office, etc.) that might impact your chosen organization and specifically its Human Resources Department/ or Division's HR strategies.
-
- Using your HR SWOT analysis from Week 2, with corrections applied from faculty feedback and suggestions, address this external trend as either threats or opportunities, adding to your HR SWOT analysis. This will become the final version of your AHROP's Appendix B.

- Also, write an HR strategy (i.e., strategies are written as a single sentence with an action verb showing direction and can be measured), to address this external trend, together with 6-8 key action steps (as bullet points) that are needed to make this strategy become a reality. Action steps are used to guide the execution of a strategy, allowing anyone to follow the plan.1. This week, you were to research and identify a global trend caused by globalization, that would have an impact on an organization and its HR's AHROP. You were to update your corrected (using earlier faculty suggestions and edits) HR SWOT analysis addressing this trend as either an external threat or opportunity, and to write one strategy with 6-8 actions steps for this trend. * This allowed for additional feedback on your attempt to correct part of your Week 2 work, prior to including in the Weeks 5 and 7 assignments.

KEY: Strategies are written as a single sentence, are written at a strategic level, so they are broadly impactful, and are directional showing movement which can be measured, i.e., to implement, to launch, to grow, to reduce, etc.

• Keep the Section Headings (all levels) of the Template in your AHROP – this is not an APA paper. Change NOTHING. Delete the prompts. • Look at the sample to see how it all flows, where there are designated sub-sections in the Week 7 Template, etc. • Remove all other content – directions are merely prompts • Week 5 introductions to EVERY SECTION HEADING (just like papers have a first paragraph of introduction explaining the topic and that draws upon the assigned readings) provide ALL or at a minimum of 10 of your 10-15 required academic references for the whole AHROP – websites do not count as academic! • The APPENDIX has (3) 1-page (approximate) graphics -- these do NOT have discussion -- that occurs in the body of that section in the Template
