Assignment

Think of a non-profit organization in your community that provides services that are important to you. It could an organization that works with underprivileged children; your local animal shelter; a place that provides support to veterans, etc. Imagine that the organization has just received a $1 million dollar donation from a generous supporter of the organization. You see on the local news that the Board of Directors would like to build a new facility on the other side of town to expand their services in the community.

In this assignment, you are going to demonstrate your understanding of project management and its role in the efficient and effective completion of projects. Your submission will 700 - 1000 words in length and should include:

· a professional business letter to the board of directors in which you express your interest in the project and an explanation of the role of a project manager (PM) and why the right PM critical to the success of the project

· a project charter

· definition and objectives of the project

· a project plan

o task outline and at least 3 of the following

- budget
- procurement plan
- project schedule (Gantt/PERT format)
- HR/staffing plan.
