Principles of Management (PoM) - Stakeholders

Define who are stakeholders and how much to privilege them?

Activity:
1. Watch Charlie Chaplin Modern Times (20 min) - link on NOW

2. Identify stakeholders - simply list them (5 min)
(you can start with a few and then include more as you go along and develop your analysis further at home)

3. Think about the class (5 min), i.e. whether they have
Power
Legitimacy
Urgency of claim
Or some combination of the above.

4. Move onto stakeholder mapping (5 min)

Sharing your analysis

Who are the important stakeholders?
How did you classify them? Does everyone agree? (Remember there is no one right answer - critical discussion is important.)
What about mapping them? Does everyone agree?

Exercise
Students should complete a 3-2-1 exercise after each session. This is a learning method for developing your critical writing skills. It will also help you ensure that that learning from the class is recorded and summarised, and ready for you to use when drafting out your assessments.

3 - write down three key words relevant to the session
2 - select two of the key words and develop full sentences around them, focused on what was discussed in class
1 - select one of your sentences and expand the idea to a full paragraph, outlining contrasting perspectives and including critical reflection about class discussion.

Your tutors can look at your 3-2-1 sheets and provide feedback on the relevance of the points covered and indicate areas for improvement.
