For your definition essay, I want you to think about some of the things that define the millennial generation. Pick one thing and write a 2 to 3 page definition essay about that subject. This is a broad topic. You could choose to define millennials as a whole or you might choose something that is specific to the millennial generation (such as selfies or snapchat).
Make sure that your definition is original and specific. Your topic should be defined from a millennial perspective. For example, a baby boomer might define "career" as a means of supporting their family, while a millennial might define a "career" as a calling or something that makes a difference in the world. In this essay, I want you to practice embedding quotations. Find at least one outside source that you think supports your thesis or lends credibility to your argument. Reread the chapter on definition essays in the Compact reader if you are having trouble getting started. Also, look at the example essays that I gave you in class today. They are good examples of what a definition essay should look like.
