You are Director of Purchasing for the "Reliable Utility Steel Trailers" (RUST) company which is located in Houston. The company manufactures a line of trailers for personal and commercial clients. Three weeks ago, on March 5, you ordered 60 wheels from the American Eagle Wheel Corporation, located in Chino, California (Purchase Order No. RUST180). The wheels are scheduled to be installed on an order for 15 heavy duty custom trailers your company is building for an important commercial client. George Patterson is the sales representative for American Eagle Wheel that sold the wheel order to you. You have been doing business with American Eagle Wheel, and Mr. Patterson for many years and American Eagle has always been a reliable vendor.

You have received confirmation of the order from American Eagle but you have not received any confirmation of the expected shipping date and the expected arrival date at your facility in Houston. You will need the wheels prior to April 9, which is the date your fabricating shop plans to begin installing the wheels, with tires, on the first of the trailers. If you do not receive the wheels before April 9 it is going to put a serious delay in your company's schedule. If the company cannot make delivery by April 8, the day before assembly begins, you will need to find an alternate source of wheels for the trailers. Your company expects to be assembling the wheels on the trailers between April 9 and April 29 in order to deliver the last trailer to the client by May 5.
