Assignment: Strategy Development
Use Nestle's annual report to identify their strategy business units and position them on the Boston Consulting Group Matrix below. SBU stands for strategic business units. Note in the Nestle annual report they call them Businesses. In the 2020 they have their sbus listed two ways: one by operation (3.1) and one by product (3.2). They are the company's profit and loss centers. Each has its own set of competitors and thus firms use different business level strategies in each sbu. You should use their product sbus for this exercise (3.2)
For each SBU in #1, Identify the investment and business level strategies
Pick a new country in which Nestle should sell its Plant-based foods, create a Diamond Model of National Advantage for that country (see table 9.6) It must be a country other than their home country or the US for this assignment. I picked the plant-based foods since this is relatively a new product line for them.
For each SBU (they list 7) what International strategy did Nestle use to keep in non-domestic markets? And what role did partnerships play in that strategy? Be sure to read the definitions of each strategy and type of partnership (see figure 9.9)
