Question: A uniform, thin, circular disk of radius a and mass M lies on a horizontal plane. The point P lies a distance y directly above O, the center of the disk. Calculate the gravitational force on a mass m at the point P. (See Figure.) Use the fact that the gravitational force exerted on the mass m by a thin horizontal ring of radius r, mass μ, and center O is toward O and given by
