This full-term, 9 lb., 4 oz. infant was delivered vaginally to a 25-year-old diabetic mother at 38 weeks' gestation. Infant's blood sugars remained stable during his stay. However, he was found to be extremely sleepy, with some feeding difficulties. Results of his blood work revealed elevated levels of RBCs. He was given IV fluids and was monitored for hyperviscosity; ABGs, BUN, and creatinine levels were checked.
