Question: Each student should use the Checkpoint Citator to select a later case or Revenue Ruling that has had a significant impact on the application, interpretation or enforcement of the case you have selected from the text. For example, the Kirby Lumber case was discussed in the later Supreme Court decision Glenshaw Glass Co., 348 U.S. 426 (1955) as shown above. The individual student memorandums should "brief" (facts, issue, rules, analysis and conclusion) their case or ruling and provide an explanation of its impact on the original case. Also, by skimming the results in the Checkpoint Citator provide a brief conclusion regarding how you think your original case is viewed. For example, has the case (Kirby Lumber in my example) been overruled or questioned to the extent that its authority has diminished? Or has the case been cited favorably with sufficient frequency that its authority has been enhanced over time?
