Mark Berwanger, in his article "Fire for Effect: The Evolution of Joint Fires" discusses how Joint Publication 3-60 has been revised as fires change from historically lethal modalities to a combination of lethal and non-lethal modalities. He argues the United States needs to more effectively utilize all of its available joint fires and improve the targeting process in order to stay on par with our enemies.
