In his article for Joint Force Quarterly titled "Building Joint Capacity Within the Reserve Component" Brent French articulates the discrepancy between the Active Duty force and the Reserve component when it comes to Joint Qualified Officers.

How do we continue to bridge the gap on multiple fronts (training, experience, qualifications, currency, etc.) between the Reserve and the Active Duty and yet keep them separate?

Can we offer the same PME and hold officers in the Reserves to the same requirements as the Active Duty force?

Schaupp, in his summary of JP-1, speaks to the synergy created by having more than one component, so how do we keep that and yet hold the Reserves accountable to the same qualifications?

Will an active conflict with China change this?
