Read about the styles and then select ONE Impressionist and ONE Post-Impressionist to research. Next, choose ONE work of art from each artist to evaluate.

After you have made your selections, write a 4-5 paragraph paper discussing the following:

1. Provide a brief biography about each artist. Did he attend a formal art school? How did he develop his artistic skills?

2. Discuss each work of art. Examine the brushstrokes, use of color and light, as well as subject matter.How are they similar? How are they different?

3. Based on your research and examination of these two works of art, what can you infer about the commonalities and differences between Impressionism and Post-Impressionism?
