ANALYTICAL & PROBLEM-SOLVING ASSESSMENT
Each week in this class we will work through a case study using analytical software and then you will apply the analytical thought process to the problem.
Papers must meet the word count to be eligible for full credit. If the word count is not met that percentage will be taken from the total grade. 500 words for undergraduate students and 600 words for graduate students.
All papers will be scanned for plagiarism and the use of AI. If either is discovered a grade of zero will be earned on the assignment for the first infraction. Subsequent infractions will earn a grade of zero and be reported to the Academic Integrity committee for action, which may include expulsion.
o Identification of the Problem: Present the evidence that caused you to identify the problem. This to key to linking your analysis to the solution that will solve the problem and is a strong first step.
o Problem Statement: The problem should be stated as an actionable statement to build the analysis from. In general, this is a succinct statement that states the problem clearly and directly.
o Identification of Possible Solutions: This is an area where you brainstorm any possible solutions, generally performed before conducting the analysis. It should be comprehensive, thoughtful, and creative.
o Evaluation of Possible Solutions: Consider each of the possible solutions and conduct analysis to explore them to determine which solution is the best and why. It should be supported by your findings. Every analyst does analysis in their own way so feel free to be creative in examining the solutions. You may use information you know about tools, finance or other related aspects to support your thought process.
o Recommended Course of Action: This is the most important part of the report. Detail the course of action you have identified as best from your analysis and provide your solution to the problem. Clearly explain any aspect that is applicable to your solution and how it was derived from your analysis.
o Implementation Plan: Provide a timeframe and detail of what roles/people/department/tools will be used and how in the solution.
Airline Industry: Understanding Customer Satisfaction- the goal is to find out the better needs and wants of their customers for the airline using Data Set Analysis to predict customer satisfaction. The paper MUST be 600 words and you MUST show that you understand the analysis by inputting data, even adding a diagram if needed using the data set provided if needed. A neutral network will be developed to predict satisfaction of a customer based on customer demographics (e.g. age, gender), flight related information (e.g., time, cancelation, flight, departure, arrival delays), and behavioral data (e.g., shopping habits in the airport, type of travel-business or person). Thae goal is to predict customer satisfaction. If the customer is dissatisfied, the airline can evaluate when and how to improve customer service through interventions such as communication or compensation. Please be advised we CANNOT use AI
