The play-by-play: As you read through each paragraph, note your reactions and thoughts at that specific point in time. Be a genuine reader who connects with the text and shares responses, rather than only identifying what is wrong or right. Are you oriented? Confused? Distracted? Doubtful? Believing? Explain why you feel that way. Make an effort to comment on at least every paragraph to provide detailed feedback.
The big picture: After reading the entire paper, write a comprehensive paragraph reflecting on the overall content and quality. Consider the paper along four categories:
Question a. Requirements, Mechanics, and Conventions: Evaluate the paper's adherence to assignment guidelines, grammar, punctuation, and formatting. Are the sources, research, and conversation elements well-incorporated?
Question b. Quality of Rhetorical and Discourse Analysis: Assess the depth and insightfulness of the rhetorical and discourse analysis. Did the writer effectively examine the community and its issue? Are there areas that could be explored further?
Question c. Clarity of Purpose and Argument: Analyze the paper's focus and organization. Is the community and issue clear? Does the paper have a purpose? How well does the thesis statement convey the argument and its importance?
Question d. Proposal and Implementation: Consider the writer's proposal to address or advance the issue. Is the proposal well-reasoned and well-supported? Does it take into account the community's values, norms, and power dynamics?
