Task 1: Case Study Scenario
Australian Harbour International College is a CRICOS-registered, ASQA accredited Institute of vocational education and training for overseas students in Sydney. AHIC is located in the heart of the central business district (CBD) in Sydney. AHIC runs courses such as Certificate IV in Business, Diploma of Business, Advanced Diploma of Business, Certificate IV in Accounting, Diploma of Accounting, Advanced Diploma of Accounting, Certificate IV in IT Networking, Diploma of IT Networking and Advanced Diploma of Network Security. There are 1100 students, 50 staffs including trainers and 8 class room including 4 computer labs. Each computer lab has 30 Desktop computers. All of desktop computers have installed Windows XP Operating System and only one Server has installed Windows Server 2003.
Current hardware specifications for Server have been given below:
• Processor: 2 GHz (for x64 processors)
• RAM: 32 GB
• DVD-ROM drive
• Super VGA (800 x 600)
• Keyboard and mouse
• Internet access
Hardware requirement for Client machine has been given below:
• Processors: 1.70 GHz (for x64 processors)
• RAM: 8 GB
• DVD-R/W Drive
• Keyboard and mouse
• Intel ® Graphics Family
• Internet access.
Current Software application has been given below:
• Microsoft Office 2007
• Adobe Acrobat
• Google chrome

The problem of the IT infrastructure of AHIC is Internet is very slow, backup has not taken regular basis (mainly taken manually), Generic username and password has been used to logon the computer by all staffs and students. In Addition, they are focusing to improve the quality of education and utilise the latest technology to provide the efficient service to the students.
You have been hired as an IT expert to develop technical requirements and a solution overview of AHIC. AHIC has allocated budget of $35000 to improve the network infrastructure within three months. These should be compiled into a report to be used by the next phase of the project. Before beginning you should clarify the business problem and confirm information with stakeholders as required.
In your report you must cove following:
Task 1: Identify the vision, strategic mission or Business objectives of AHIC
Task 2: Identify key stakeholders and their requirements, this includes undertaking a minimum of two interviews with students or staff (you will need to report on findings and submit your notes or the feedback forms. Please find the Feedback form Under Assessment 1- Relevant Recourses and Templets Folder).
Task 3: Analyse the existing network infrastructure and identify the technical Problems
Task 4: Research and find the appropriate hardware and software solution such as latest Operating systems, Software Application and hardware specification.
Task 5: Investigate a range of supplier products to determine which one best meets technical requirements and also provide detail budget and time frame information as per organisational requirement.
Task 6: Develop the proposed Network infrastructure as per Organisational requirement.
Task 7: Compare and document advantages and disadvantages of the current and proposed IT system
Task 8: Determine required changes, the objectives and implications of introducing changes and submit your findings to the client (your instructor) for feedback
Task 9: Create an Action Plan that should take account of relevant considerations such as financial, legal, human relations and internal and external operating environments.
Task 10: Summarise the outcome of the project and make recommendations for future growth of AHIC within budget limits.
You will need to provide an overview of the proposal, how it has met the project requirements as well as key responsibilities, resources and detail costs in this project.
Task 11: Before submitting final report to the clients, you must deliver the presentation (at least 10 Presentation Slides) and also collect the Feedback from stakeholders. Analyse the feedback then document and incorporate changes as required.
