I had to describe interventions that would be helpful in implementing a surgical smoke program by eliminating surgical smoke in the operating room. One intervention is to perform a gap analysis to determine what smoke evacuators and supplies are already in place. Another intervention is trialing smoke evacuation pencils to remove surgical smoke during procedures. Another intervention was staff education program to determine misconceptions and use evidence based practices to reeducate the dangers of surgical smoke. The education program will also help staff understand current practices and equipment used to evacuate surgical smoke.
