The C is a general purpose structured programming language. The C was developed and first implemented by the Dennis Ritchie at Bell Laboratories in the 1970's. Ever since it was developed along with the Unix Operating system and it is strongly associated with UNIX. This operating system(OS) which was also developed at Bell Laboratories is coded almost entirely in C.

The C is often called as a middle level computer language. It is for the reason that it combines the best elements of high level languages with the control and flexibility of assembly language. The C code is a portable. The Portability means that it is easy to adapt software written for one kind of computer operating system to another type.
