Another significant function of a marketing manager is to find any discounting of prices of the goods and services of a business. Every business discounts the price of its products and services. Some companies do it only occasionally and some do it as element of a planned marketing strategy.
Many businesses discount their offerings either as a response to competitive activity or to move into a new market. Before doing this they often do not think that what is the effect of discounting offerings on their business.
Discounting offerings can be effective but it should be done in a highly planned and controlled way and with a clear purpose in mind.
