Q. Why do cells of the nephron tubules present a great amount of mitochondria?

The cells of the tubule wall have high number of mitochondria because many substances are secreted or resorbed through them by means of active transport a process that spends energy. Therefore, many mitochondria are necessary for the energetic supply ATP supply of this type of transport.
