What is NAD? What is the role of the NAD molecule in glycolysis?
NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a hydrogen acceptor essential as reductant (to receive hydrogen) in some reactions in which it is decreased and converted into NADH2. During glycolysis two NAD molecules retrieve hydrogens liberated after an intermediate reaction therefore forming NADH2.
