The low temperature in Anchorage, Alaska present was -4°F. The low temperature in Los Angeles, California was 63°F. What is the difference in the two low temperatures?

Visualize a number line. The distance from -4 to 0 is 4. Then, the distance from 0 to 63 is 63. Add the two distances together to obtain 67; 63 + 4 = 67.
