What is piezoelectricity?

Piezoelectricity:  Piezoelectricity gives us a means of changing electrical energy to suppose new geometric positions and the mechanical dimensions of the substance are changed. This phenomenon is known as electrostriction. The reverse effect i.e. production of polarization by the application of mechanical stresses can take place only if the lattice has no center of symmetry, this phenomenon is called as piezoelectricity. Example - Rochelle salt, Quartz, Barium titante.
