What is a fiber optic?

It is long lenses. A cylinder or rod of transparent material forming a core surrounded with an external cladding by a slightly dissimilar material. Light, while entering the fiber, rebound on the outer cladding in direction of core.

This way the light by the fiber in bounds or steps, till it exits at the other end.
