Although there are several different configurations, different hardware and software platforms and even dissimilar network protocols in Client-Server Architecture, they all possess certain characteristics and features that distinguish them from traditional mainframe computing environment. Some of them are listed below:

  • Having of a networked webs of small and powerful machines (both servers and clients)
  • Open Systems
  • Modularity
  • Cost Reduction and Better Utilization of Resources
