What are the disadvantages of relational data ?

Disadvantages

• Performance - If the number of tables among that relationships to be established are large and the tables themselves are voluminous, the performance within responding to queries is absolutely degraded.

• Unsuitable for Hierarchies - Although the relational database approach is a logically attractive, commercially feasible approach, but if the data is for instance naturally organized in a hierarchical manner and stored as such, the hierarchical approach might give better results.
