What is the major purpose of carrying out water absorption test for precast concrete pipes?

Answer

Cement will mix with additional water than is compulsory to eventually combine through hydration of cement paste. As, some voids will be left at the back after hydration process that affects strength and durability of concrete. With being there of air invalid in concrete, it is vulnerable to diffusion and attack by aggressive chemicals. High-quality concrete is measured by having minimal voids left by overload water and so, water absorption test for precast concrete pipes is accepted for checking quality of concrete in terms of thickness and invulnerability.
