Question

Why are transitional jacks designed in pipe jacking projects?

Answer

While development of pipe jacking stops, building up of confrontation is extremely fast in some soil. For example, boost in jacking force of 20 to 40 percent is necessary for a stoppage of pipe jacking for just some hours. Therefore, it is recommended that pipe jacking have to be carried out in a continuous operation.
For an extended pipeline, frictional forces recognized between jacking pipes and soil is high. From time to time, such resisting forces might be so high that they be able to barely be overcome by jacks in jacking pits. Furthermore, even if the jacks can conquer high frictional forces induced during jacking, high loads are knowledgeable in jacking pipes through driving. Jacking pipe's material for example concrete could not have enough strength to resist these stresses and so pipe strength is another factor that direct need for consideration of using transitional jacks
