The filter capacitor , Electrical Engineering

Assignment Help:

It is needed to use a half-wave rectifier for a dc power supply that gives an average dc output voltage of 15 V and a maximum ±1V ripple is permitted. The rectifier feeds a load of 150 ohms and is fed from a line voltage of 120 Vrms 60Hz by a transformer. The diodes have a voltage drop of 0.7V while conducting.

a)  Find the rms voltage that appears across the transformer's secondary coil

b)  The needed value of the filter capacitor

c)  The PIV that shows across the diodes

d)  Average current by the diode while conducting

e)  Measure the peak diode current
