Strength tests: These tests are carried out to check the holding powers of various binders used in green moulding sand, dry moulding sand and core sand. These tests are performed on a U.T.M. The various test carried out includes:-
1. Compressive strength test
2. Shear strength test
3. Tensile strength test
4. Bending strength test
Out of these, compressive strength test is most important. The test specimen is
5.08 cm Φ × 5.08 cm long. The test is performed by applying a uniformly increasing load on sand specimen until it breaks. The compressive strength is read directly on the scale of the machine.
In general, gear drive is useful for power transmission among two shafts, which are near to each other (at most at 1m distance). In addition, it has maximum efficiency whereas tran
