Meaning of Statistical Investigation:
An investigation means a systematic search for the knowledge or the truth. In statistical investigation the search for the knowledge is done by means of collection of data through statistical methods. In other words, for any statistical enquiry, whether it is business, economic, political, or social science the basis problem is to collect facts and figures relating to a particulars phenomenon expressed in times of quantity or numbers. The person who conducts the inquiry under study for further statistical analysis analysis is known as an investigator. The persons from whom the information is collected are known as respondents.
