Show material selection process, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Show Material selection process?

• Design life shall be based on project design criteria and normally 10 to 15 years' service life specified for well pads, 20-25 years for CPF and 30 years for Pipeline. In some low pressure system or exchanger tube bundles, early replacement may permit using less expensive materials with less than normal design life.

• Material selection shall be based on operating conditions. Short term operating conditions like, start-up, shutdown and steam outs or upset conditions like loss of flow or pressure upset shall also be considered in material selection.

• Material requirements for sour services shall be in full compliance with the latest edition of NACE MR0175/ISO15156 unless requested otherwise by Customer. Sour service determination is based upon operating condition for plant facilities and design condition for pipeline.

• PWHT requirements shall be considered mandatory in sour services for pressure equipment. Process piping may be excluded provided all the fabrication requirements of NACE MR0175/ISO15156 are met.

• Low ambient temperature code requirements are not normally specified and shall be addressed in line designation tables and equipment data sheets for piping and equipment, respectively. Only low temperature due to process reasons shall be addressed.
