Selection Criteria for the Type of Scheduling There are several types of scheduling system selection of a particular system depends on a number of factor. Some of these are described as follow:
a)Available infrastructure such as machine capacity and number.b) Type of layout such as process and product types.c) Volumes of production such as low volume or high volume .d) Type of products standardized and non standardized.e) Type of production systems such as job shop and mass production.f)Priority of job.g) Time schedules such as operation waiting and delivery time.h) Cost aspects such as set up cost change over cost etc.Every system of scheduling has it merit and emeriti. Therefore there is nothing like an ideal system or a best system of scheduling. What is relevant is to select the most suitable system of scheduling which suits a particular production background and working environment.
