Selection criteria for Process layout

  1. Many types or styles or production or emphasis on special order
  2. Relatively low volume of production of individual item
  3. Adequate time and motion studies difficult or impossible to make
  4. Difficult to achieve good labour and equipment balance
  5. Many inspectors required during sequence of operation
  6. Higher production capacity of very heavy equipment or equipment requiring very special treatment
  7. Material or products too large or too heavy to permit bulk or continuous handling by mechanical means
  8. Frequent necessity to use same machine or work stations for two or more different operations.
