Strategy is developed at different levels in large organisations. The process starts with the corporate strategy which is then translated into the strategy for the business divisions and business functions.

Explain what the corporate strategy of a multi-business organisation is typically concerned with.

The strategic management process is basically concerned with decisions that organisations make about their future direction and development. Corporate strategy is concerned with an organisation's basic direction for the future. The corporate method will look at what businesses the organisation is in and what businesses it should be in. Common errors with strategy contain decisions on acquisitions, mergers and sell-offs, or closure of business units. The corporate methods would strive to establish a balanced portfolio of business units for the organisation.
