Organisational Framework for Project Management
A project based organisation is a composition that facilitates the coordination and implementation of project behaviours. Project based organisations have to create a defined organisational structure to foster efficient development. The structure should ensure that there is clear work definition and that team members have least disruptions, interact with each other with least conflicts on areas of work that overlaps between departments. Some of the key decisions of project management are the form of organisational structure that will be utilised for the project.
Every project has its unique characteristics and the design of an organisational structure should consider the organisational environment, the project characteristics in which it will operate, and authority to be given to the project manager.
One of the foremost objectives of the structure is to reduce uncertainty and confusion that typically occurs at the project initiation phase. The structure defines the associations among members of the project management and their relationships with the external environment.
