This layer is responsible for routing a packet in the subnet i.e., from source to destination nodes across multiple nodes in the similar network or across multiple networks. This layer also makes sure the successful delivery of a packet to the destination node. The network layer performs the given functions:

Routing: To search the optimal route
Congestion control: which is depend on two approaches?

(i) Increase on the resources

(ii) Decrease the word
