Naming complex substituents - IUPAC system of nomenclature

If the substituent on the parent chain is complex (that is it is branched) it is termed as substituted alkyl group by numbering the carbon atom of this group attached to the parent chain like 1. The name of such type of substituent is given in brackets in order to prevent confusion with the numbering of the parent chain. For instance,
