Question

Geotechnical Instrumentation is often employed for monitoring state of reclamation. From time to time two piezometers are installed inside same borehole. What is main motive after this?

Answer

For standpipes, they usually contain one plastic tube between its intention is to test water level only. Though, for piezometers, they are used for measuring pore water pressure in certain intensity below ground. For case, if there are two clayey layers below ground at unlike depths, many piezometer including two part piezometers might be sunk at same borehole to determine pore water pressure at these layers respectively. This pact has pro that it saves cost of installation of separate boreholes for quite a few piezometers. Still, installation of multiple piezometers within same borehole is affected by incidence of leak the length of pipes
