I.S. CODES ON EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT BUILDING DESIGN
Bureau of Indian Standard has divided the country into five zones depending upon the severity of earthquake after observing Indian earthquakes for several years. IS 1893-1984 shows the various zones. Following IS codes will be of great significance for the design engineers:
IS 1893-2002: Criteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures (5th revision).
IS 4928-1993: Code of practice for Earthquake Resistant Design & Construction of Buildings. (2nd revision)
IS 13827-1992: Guidelines for Improving Earthquake Resistance of Low Strength Masonry Building
IS: 13920-1997: for Ductile Detailing of Reinforced Concrete Structures Code of practice Subjected to Seismic Forces.
IS: 13935-1993: Guidelines for Repair and Seismic Strengthening of Buildings.
Q. What is Sedimentation tank ? This is a process in which the water is passed through bases or tanks in which the velocity of water is so reduced or water is given a period of
how does wrong calculations in normal stress cause partial or total collapse of a building?
State the term - calculation of deformation of concrete For the calculation of deformation of concrete at some stage before the maximum shrinkage is reached, it may be assumed
Compatibility Condition: Total strain in steel = Total strain in copper i.e. 3 × 10 -4 + 1.965 × 10 -5 P s = 4.5 × 10 -4 + 1.8421 × 10 -5 P c Recognising that P
briefly explain about c tokens ?
The maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of a soil from standard proctor's test are 18 kN/m 3 and 16% respectively. Compute the degree of saturation of the sample,
Determine the problems formed while design of pre-stressed concrete Two types of problems are encountered by the engineer engaged in the design of pre-stressed concrete membe
Embankment Construction: Selection of Soil Soil is the material used for embankment construction, though other materials like rock and fly-ash are also used in specia
In a drained triaxial compression test, a saturated specimen of cohesionless sand fails at a deviator stress of 450 kN/m 2 when the cell pressure was 135 kN/m 2 . Search the ef
