a) "Total Quality Management is regarded as a quick fix solution by many organizations. This has led many companies to start on the road to total quality improvement initiative but failed to achieve the desired results success".

You are required to identify and comment on the causes of such poor performance.

b) As a newly appointed rector of your school, you have received many complaints from students and parents about the safety and hygiene of the school. It is your aim to "democratise quality" and make quality control comprehensible to all parties concerned. You firmly believe in the use of the seven basic tools of quality control.

Briefly outline some of the techniques and tools that can be used in the analysis and improvement of quality of the service of the school. Use relevant examples where appropriate.
