Mary has $2 in her pocket. She does yard work for four various neighbors and earns $3 per yard. She then spends $2 on a soda. How much money does she have left?

This translates to the expression 2 + 3 × 4 - 2. By Using order of operations, multiply 3 × 4 ?rst; 2 + 12 - 2. Add and subtract the numbers in sequence from left to right; 2 + 12 = 14; 14 - 2 = 12.
